When to not rely on LLM
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday season. I wanted to start the year off with a post about when to not rely on LLM. I’ve been using LLM for a while now and I’ve found that there are certain situations where it’s better to not rely on it. An example that struck out the most for me is Google’s integration of LLM in their search engine!
I was looking for information on whether I could do an early check-in at Jewel Changi Airport for my Royal Brunei Airline flight. Typed in “royal brunei airline jewel early check in” and as you may have seen before Google’s LLM will do some magic and infer the answers based on the search results. I’ll cut to the chase and below was what I saw:
Okay, so I thought I could drop my baggage off at Jewel, but upon checking the links. The references were actually mixed up! So, RBA actually allows early check-in in Brunei and Jewel allows early check-in for other airlines.
This is a personal example of when not to rely on LLM. It’s great for getting a quick answer, but it’s not always accurate. So, if you’re looking for something important, it’s always best to double-check the information. I hope this helps you in your future searches!
Happy New Year and have a great 2025 ahead!
